Carrion - Where We Play as the Monster in this Gorey Game!

Aaaand after a year of starting this particular game (before getting too busy with life after moving to another country), I have now finally found the time to actually finish it enough to then make a game review about it! As it turned out Carrion was definitely a great source of relieving stress by just letting out one's inner monster! XD

As you can see from the trailer, we're in a lab, running about, we just escaped, probably confused but most definitely hungry. Oh, and did I mention we play the monster in this game?

Disclaimer: I don't own a lick of this game but the devs did an awesome job to make this exciting so I'm just sharing the GIFs and screenshots I remembered at the last minute to take as I enjoyed wrecking havoc!

Trigger warning: Contains LOTS of blood and gore

Like any other living organism, we as Carrion start out small. Our only form of Defense is to turn invisible and our Offense would be to throw a sort of spider web:

The game design as you can see is reminiscent of the good 'ole retro pixel games, we solve puzzles here to get around the lab facilty using our various enhancements that we discover throughout the place. I played this on PC through Steam and found a mouse and keyboard to be personally easier than a game controller, also don't forget to save to the nearest Biomass you can find, in cases that you get annihilated you respawn to your latest Save Point:

Some NPCs don't give much of a fight and using them as sustenance helps in your growth:

Like how with your 2nd evolution, your Defense is growing spikes while your Offense is being able to break through harder barriers

Your only deadliest weakness is fire (especially from these Flamethrowers), but once you get to your 3rd evolution, it's a matter of being stealthy by taking them down with your sharper tentacles and being tough-skinned (like a literal bomb can't affect you at this point):

The Stat Bar also improves everytime we find a Containment Unit around the facility (I've used the following Maps and Achievement Guides in order to not get lost, cause the halls will really start to look confusing the further along you keep exploring), though we'd be considered an unstoppable force at this point by being able to reach pass crevices AND once we learn to use the Parasitism ability to control the humans wisely against each other:

It's not entirely explained where the Carrion came from but it was found by scientists from a series of flashbacks you also play as you find snippets of memory in the facility, your final form upon escaping leaves much questions. Where did you come from? Where do you go? Out there in the city is definitely another means to know.

Once you've also maxed out all your skills and abilities, they can carry over to the Xmas Edition DLC you can find with the Steam package! Albeit it's shorter and set in a tinier area but doesn't take away the gruesome fun, plus ripping the xmas lights from ceilings is an added bonus!

Definitely a game you'd get sucked into playing and might even have you questioning why you're strategizing like a monster from a horror movie as you rip off floor grids from under NPCs in preparation to eat them (also the trademark pulling them into the ceiling). So until the next gaming session!
