Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion - This Game is as Plantastically Crazy as it Sounds!
Gaming has found its way back in my life with my recent purchase of an Xbox Series X, and aside from the Assassin's Creed franchise that I'm steadily getting around to downloading (whenever our wifi speed allows), I've also set my sights on some interesting game titles:
Disclaimer: GIFs and screenshots were taken from my round of gameplay just to share and show the fun you'd get from playing this game.
If the title itself didn't give you the feeling of how crazy 'Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion' can be, then you're in for a plantastically nuclear adventure! 🥕 🍆 🍅 🥑╰╮o( ̄▽ ̄///)
Contrary to seeing this game first in the Xbox store, I also managed to search it to be available on Steam and Google Play-- price wise the Xbox version was hella pricey (at around $15), compared to its other versions on Steam ($4) and Google Play (at around $5-6). Mobility wise, I went with the latter despite Steam obviously being the cheapest of the three, though the bright side of downloading it through Google Play is that the gameplay is intially free at a certain point in the game until you reach Mayor Onion's dreaded paywall:
And since I threaded way too deep into the suspiciously colorful town of Veggieland, I paid the toll fee. But you wanna ask if the game's worth it? Well here's a checklist to see if this game's for you:
- You're into the whole puzzle-like RPG setup that makes you solve to get into the next "room" - ☑️
- You don't mind simple missions that may or may not contribute to the main plot unfolding, but will nonetheless compensate you with a reward - ☑️
- Mini bosses and the BIG Boss Fights! - ☑️
So if you're all game for all three, then you'll find the adventure (and the conspiracies) of this game to your taste, and if you ever get stuck after the second Boss Fight, there's a god mode option to this game you can turn on at any time (although I only discovered this tiny bit of cheat at my last Boss after all the frustrating retries)-- coincidentally, I found that option to be handy in the DLC included after you beat the game.
Here you can see that Sunset Station will be another open path at the end of the main game, which leads you to Limitless Lane-- it's an optional gameplay with no storyline whatsoever but just infinite RPG fights that lets you collect station tickets that can be used at Monty's Shop.
My final thoughts on this game: It's reminiscent of the good 'ol pixelated RPGs of my childhood, I liked the mini missions from this veggie town's fruity residents, and I didn't mind the challenging Boss Fights (excluding the last one wherein I really had to turn on god mode). And although I can't say much for the Xbox version price of this game, the one I purchased from Google Play (once you manage to overcome the need for an actual game controller) was worthwhile on its own for the 3-4 hours it took for me to complete this surprisingly awesome game, so cheers aspiring tax evaders! 🥂
